I grew up in a small farming town in Western Massachusetts (though I am not a farmer), and now live in Brooklyn. I grew up passionate about empowering my peers, organizing high schoolers to take more responsibility in school governance, and eventually becoming Student Body President of Wesleyan University. My semi-official bio follows: …view more Young People First emerged out of a desire to build a movement of young adults that demands action on the chronic challenges that uniquely threaten younger generations, and is sustainable enough to apply the prolonged pressure that will be necessary to enact real reforms. Young People First is a natural outgrowth of Zach's longstanding commitment to youth advocacy and political organizing, which first emerged when he spearheaded a campaign to give students control of his high school's honor code and continued through his election as Wesleyan University's Student Body President. As a Coro Fellow in Public Affairs, Zach spent a year training to create and manage change in organizations. He currently works as a consultant to the Strategy Department of Echoing Green -- a social venture fund -- helping them write a book on early-stage career development. Zach will draw upon his experience in media, communications, web outreach, and marketing to make Young People First a success.
