My name is Dan Smith. I live in New Orleans and work primarily as an IT Consultant and occasionally as a photographer. Photography is my true passion, and I love the way in which the medium allows us to share experiences, convey emotions, tell stories. Fotos For Humanity was started by a young photographer named Devin Meyers a couple of years ago. When I met him at a local arts fair, we realized that while we have different photographic styles, we share the same admiration for the community base …view more arts, culture and recovery efforts persisting in New Orleans with little to no public funding. The media is full of reports and images of defective levees, crime, and blighted or deserted neighborhoods in post-katrina new orleans, but you never hear about the amazing level of community based activism going on here. Fotos For Humanity is helping to promote these grass-roots champions of culture, arts, education and renewal. We have the potential to do much, much more.
