I am a social entrepreneur, arts administrator and advocate who has worked almost exclusively in the nonprofit sector supporting a variety of constituents and causes from arts advocacy to child welfare to international development work. Each job, project, and volunteer activity has demonstrated my commitment to bring a voice to the under-represented, to inspire emerging leaders and artists, to promote philanthropy and charitable giving, and to always lead by example. I was adopted from South America at the age of three and this event prompted me to dedicate my life to serving children, especially those who may feel left out and need the opportunity to have their voices heard. Advocating for the arts comes from my desire to ensure that others have similar exposure to the arts from a young age as I did. I was fortunate to grow up with the arts as a fundamental part of my early education in the public schools. Since that time, I have watched as the arts budgets of public schools have been depleted and in some cases eradicated. Working with after-school arts programs, I have met students who are desperate for a creative outlet, for the confidence that the artistic process instills in them, and for the possibilities that the arts provide for all - regardless of background.
