Andrew Zacharakis, Dr. Candida Brush and Jennifer Walske are serving as ideablob.com Featured Guest Advisors for the week of September 29, 2008. Professor Zacharakis is The John H. Muller, Jr. Chair in Entrepreneurship at Babson College, Director of the Babson College Entrepreneurship Research Conference and past president of the Entrepreneurship Division of the Academy of Management. He is also a past chair of Babson’s Entrepreneurship Department and a past Director of their Arthur M. Blank Center for Entrepreneurship. Zacharakis’ writings and research focus on two major areas of entrepreneurship: the venture capital decision-making process and entrepreneurial growth strategies. Zacharakis is also the author of five books, and his research has been published in numerous academic journals. Professor Brush holds the Paul T. Babson Chair in Entrepreneurship. Brush is the Division Chair for Entrepreneurship and will serve as the Director of the Babson PhD Program. She is well known for her pioneering research in women’s entrepreneurship, having conducted the first and largest study of women entrepreneurs in the early 1980s, which resulted in one of the earliest books on the topic. Her continued research catalyzed studies and dissertations worldwide. Brush also has authored several publications on new venture strategies and international entrepreneurship. Her research is published in both management and entrepreneurship journals and is often featured in noted popular media including the Wall Street Journal, BusinessWeek Online, the Boston Globe and Inc. Professor Walske is researching emergent venture firms and how venture syndication patterns affect portfolio firm success. Walske has created and taught her own course in high technology entrepreneurship for the undergraduate and graduate levels. Prior to her career in academia, Walske founded a venture capital firm, Myriad Investments LLC. She was also a nationally ranked software analyst by Institutional All American, and a regular guest commentator on CNN and CNBC. Walske held various marketing and sales positions within the design automation and telecommunications industries from 1987 through 1999, including serving on the EDAC industry board of directors. |
