Winner to be Selected by ideablob* Community on January 31

Spring House, PA (January 28, 2008) – Advanta Corp. (NASDAQ:ADVNB; ADVNA) has announced this year’s first eight ideablob.com finalists for the $10,000 monthly contest prize. They are: Naomi Bar-Yam, Teresa Belardes, Jemell Cotton, Ilia Nossov, Franklin Philips, Stephanie Phillips, Kara Spencer and Andy Tabar.

Launched by Advanta in September 2007, ideablob.com is where small businesses and entrepreneurs can share, compare and grow their business ideas – and have a chance to win $10,000 towards fulfilling them. The finalists include the top two winners from each of the first three weeks of January, as voted on by the ideablob.com community. In addition, the finalists include two contestants who received the most votes overall from the community since the ideablob.com contest began.

“The creativity and diversity of these finalists’ ideas are inspirational,” said Ami Kassar, Advanta’s Chief Innovation Officer. “The feedback and advice these ideas continue to receive from the community has helped make ideablob one of the most talked about small business social networks today, validating our belief that ideablob is a valuable tool for entrepreneurs and small businesses.”

Advanta recently celebrated in New York City with Brooklyn’s Chris Elam, founder of Misnomer Dance Theater and ideablob.com’s $10,000 award winner for December 2007. Chris won for his idea to develop Web 2.0 tools specifically for the performing arts.

January’s $10,000 contest winner will be the finalist that receives the most votes from the ideablob.com community during the 10-day period that began on January 22 and ends on January 31. The ideablob.com community is free and easy to join. In addition to voting, community members are encouraged to submit ideas or comment, advise and offer feedback on other members’ ideas.

Naomi Bar-Yam, Boston, MA

Teresa Belardes, West Hills, CA

Jemell Cotton, Detroit, MI

Ilia Nossov, Buffalo, NY
Ilia is a senior at the University of Buffalo. Franklin Philips, Yonkers, NY

Stephanie Phillips, Philadelphia, PA
Stephanie is the Director of Development for Bartram’s Garden. Beginning on February 1, 2008, the latest cycle of the ideablob.com contest will begin with all new ideas. January entrants may re-submit ideas for February and subsequent months. The eight finalists who will compete for February’s $10,000 contest prize will be named approximately one month from now.
