ideablob's Newsletter:
For the love of ideas
Greetings Blobbers!
As always, exciting things are happening at ideablob.com. In addition to announcing another $10,000 winner, we have expert advisors participating in the ideablob community. Industry leaders, business and marketing gurus, and successful entrepreneurs will be answering your questions to help your ideas grow. We encourage you to take this opportunity to give some extra attention to your brainchild and pose questions under the "Questions I need advice on" section of your idea page. The featured guest advisor will change on a regular basis, so check back frequently to find out who the current expert is!

January's Winner:
We celebrated January's winner -- Naomi Bar-Yam -- at a very special place: Brandeis University.
Naomi is spearheading the Boston-based Mother's Milk Bank of New England. With the $10,000 she won on ideablob, she plans on buying equipment and marketing her breast milk bank for undernourished babies. Studies show that premature babies who receive banked milk are far less likely to suffer life-threatening complications and have much faster recovery rates.

Like Chris Elam, December's winner, Naomi effectively used blogs to promote her idea. She also utilized other social media resources to accrue votes!
Besides our event in Boston, we had a get-together in Los Angeles. In fact, we plan to have these events on a regular basis. So if you want an invite, make sure you fill out the location part of your ideablob profile.

ideablob UniversitySM:
Last month we launched ideablob University. Professors can now create virtual classrooms on ideablob.com, which enable their students to submit, vote and comment on new business ideas as part of their class curriculum.
Dr. Jeffrey Cornwall told us that he uses ideablob to help teach his students opportunity recognition, creativity and networking. His students get to explore real ideas from real people, and use that to kindle their creative and analytic fires. So, don’t listen to anyone that says you can’t blob in class - it’s here to stay!

Tip of the month:
Getting Votes!!!
Wondering how to get more votes for your ideas? Think outside the box and put your social networks to work for you!
- - Go to your favorite social networking web site and create a group.
- - Come up with a catchy title like "Take 2 seconds to support my idea so I can win $10,000."
- - Invite all of your friends to join.
- - Explain to your friends what your idea is and why it's a keeper, and include a link to your idea page.
If your group succeeds in getting you votes, your idea will be featured more frequently on the ideablob homepage under the Recent Activity section... and if your idea is good, the community just might feel inspired to vote for you as well!
|
Site enhancements:
Do you have a blog or web site that you are using to promote your idea? Well, now you can quickly and easily add a "vote" button to it! This button allows visitors on your page to see your idea and quickly register on ideablob and vote for it. You can find the vote button code at your idea page where it says “Get your idea button.” Just copy and paste it to your blog / website and... voila! Now, go get some votes!
