A set-top box such that you can push a button and send $.05 to whatever charity represents relief for the disaster currently being portrayed on TV (the local news, a TV show, whatever). Next time a forest fire hits, or a child is kidnapped, millions of outraged viewers can do something about it.

blobalicious advised on Digital Retinal Photos are currently available on a limited optometric practices, and when available the doctors generally charge patients $25 extra or separately bill the medical insurance $75-$150.

It would be great if this could be cheaper. I just paid an extra 50 bucks to have it done as they said my insurance wouldnt cover it.

You know how they sell things through satellite? Car dealerships, etc...etc...Or you are watching a show...interactive television! Well, why not charity? I think that easily it could be made to be interactive. Just contact the Dish Network and other satellite networks and see what they have to say about it. It might be able to be worked into the monthly costs of the user.

Good points about transaction costs. A flat rate transaction that is greater than the amount being transferred would not be a great situation!

Instead, the $$ could be deducted monthly or annually from a user's credit card or bank account and distributed to the various charities in a chunk, so instead of 1 transaction / donation there would be 1 transaction / user.

Or, the financial provider might agree to take a percent of each transaction instead of a flat rate.

Thanks for that comment and advice!

Migdalash brings up a good point about the trans fee, maybe the merchant and you could both split 10% of the overall transaction to fund your charity? This would be good stream of income to support your cause. Maybe co-market this with an TV manufacture exclusively and see if they might flip the bill to fund your venture.

an international disaster DONATION H O T L I N E site ... where the latest on the disaster can be monitored by a click and where people can by a click donate small to large donations ... you'll have to have a very charitable-minded e-merchant cart host/provider (did I say it right?) ... I am thinking of the transaction cost being greater than the $.05 donation. Nevertheless, FABULOUS IDEA!
