A user would have to execute as many as four copy/paste cycles (text, title, author, URL) to properly footnote a web page and then struggle to format the footnote properly. The existing process lowers productivity; results in poor documentation of sources, and can even lead to claims of plagiarism. "Footnoter" is a utility plug in for word processing programs such as Microsoft Word that captures footnote information (title, author, page, url, etc.) from web pages, word-processing documents, pdf documents, etc. within the copy function and “plugs” this information into the proper places within a document during the paste function.
