My oldest son was non-verbal and never expected to walk...until we put him on a horse. Have you ever studied anything about using horse therapy for stroke victims?? Visit our research group at Change.org/ search on "stroke".
I just want to say a HUGE thank you to you all- For you comments and your support-- And know if you left me contact info, I will get to you. I appreciate all of your support, and if I don't win- (and it looks like I didn't at this point) I won't give up.
Also, I don't want anyone to think i have anything at all against traditional therapists and the therapy they use. This is meant as a complementary therapy. Why use only one way, when there are several? When I spoke of 'bored' therapists, I didn't mean that they were bad therapists- Just that the therapy they use is so boring- they often bore themselves as well. There are ways to spice that up so everyone wins. That said, once again, thank you all!
Sincerely,
Topangarose
a good physical therapist trained in stroke rehab is THE BEST method for stroke rehab... "alternative therapies" should be adjunct and supplemental... there is no better treatment out there than a therapist, with a MASTERs or DOCTORAL degree, who has specialized training in stroke/brain injury rehab... your ideas are vague and you have made statements such as "Data destroyed by stroke, exists in other areas of the brain in different forms" without providing any research to back it... look into neuroplasticity... there's actually research done on this AND therapists have used good treatment methods that stimulate neuroplasticity in the brain with very, very good results...
unless you're a neurologist (MD) or a therapist (licensed OT or PT or SLP) i'd suggest you spend …moreyour time and money on something other than alternative therapies that you think work simply because you BELIEVE they do...
please don't help instill into the public's minds that there is a rift between "old medicine" and "new medicine"... i am a licensed physical therapist and i use "old" and PROVEN methods for treatment as well as new, cutting-edge PROVEN methods for treatment-- and i see exceptionally good results with my stroke and BI patients... sure there are some professionals out there who do not stay up on current treatment methods and they're burned out and whatnot-- but that's true for any profession...
i hope that you have a strong background in medicine, physiology, research methods, statistics, physics, chemistry, neurology, and anatomy, as well as current treatment methods such as proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation, neuro-developmental rehab/bobath technique, constraint-induced therapy, SAEBO therapy, and neurological integrative functional rehabiliation and habilitation (neuro-IFRAH)... if you don't, i don't think you are qualified to be making statements about taking "traditional" therapies out of the dark ages or giving the public false hope while making a quick buck...

I just wanted to say a huge THANK YOU to all who visited here, all who voted, and all who commented. love, and light! (and information!)!
My e-mail address is scott.jeany.bowling@g.mail. I am the MS patient who has the "train the brain" theory. I very much would like to know your thoughts on this theory.
I just wanted to take another minute to thank you all for taking a look and for voting for this idea! I continue to read your comments and appreciate the fact that you took the time to write! I'm taking notes! Those who left email addresses, I will contact you shortly.

I have always thought this would work with MS. My neurologist is amused but supportive when each time I see him I mention my "train the brain" theory. He has a good friend with MS and his friend calls it re-training the brain. I disagree as this would be virgin territory and therefore my "train the brain" is correct. Please think about trying this with MS. I will be your first guinia (sp?) pig and a good one at that because I have been working on "train the brain" for years. I was diagnosed 27 years ago and am still "ambulatory". That is the word the doc used October 2007. In all honesty doctors are somewhat amazed that the progression is taking so much time...but it is progressing...so HELP...I believe you have it!!!!
This is an outstanding, seemingly viable idea! I wish you the very best in getting the funds needed to start your journey.
Please let us know when you get there.
All the best,
Gary

hey i just randomly found this site from a youtube link but awsum and i am glad you are researching this! i am 17yo female from New Zealand and i had a stroke (left side paralised, right side of brain bleed) was woundering if this coul help me and would love to hear from you maybe? my email adress is (X_kia_x@hotmail.com) thanks for your time and research :)
Your intention draws on the flooding love of the Universe! Make this work and it will exponentially catch on. Maybe we can show another doorway to the hardcore medical community. As a retired nurse, and one who has worked with thousands of stroke victims and survivors, I join with you in intention!
In the interest of fairness I reviewed all of the finalists before casting my vote for you. My only comment is not to be so skeptical of the medical community. Everyone would benefit from a more effective therapy. Physicians and other medical personnel are often patients and/or related to them.
Someone also mentioned the need for a control group. That merits exploring but I think current therapeutic outcomes are probably sufficiently well documented to serve as your control. In any event best of luck!

I am struck by the genius of this. Sending it on to associates. saw it 2weeks ago, and held off voting until I investigated the sciece behind it as I was skeptical. Now I am starting to understand. In healthcare industry we sometimes don't see past our nose. This is waaaay past someone's nose. Excellent right brained thinking- to get the left and right brain in sync!

Sorry I got to this so late- I could have sent it out to my list- These new ideas coming on the horizon need to be embraced. There is so much new data! The average person doesn't even realized--- But they will be stuck with the same old medicine forever if we don't stand up and look in these other directions!!!!!! Anyone could have a stroke- no matter how healthy you think you are. It's devastating! Wouldn't you want the newest freshest ideas at your disposal?? Old medicine will fight this- it's up to us to make way for the new frontier.... Mind/body medicine. Science is proving it workd!
typing rt handed bcause left dsnt wrk. wish yu were already funded. i would try. Thank you for caring about us. will ask my therapist if she understands this. don't give up.
My stroke support group is excited about this idea. A friend sent us here to look. I'm not very knowledgeable about this, but willing to try somethng new as long as it's not invasive. we will follow this closely.
Strong idea, however medical initiatives require signifigant ethics and legal approvals. Securing pro-bono professional services would be valuable in taking this vision ito reality.
All is energy and with the right intent, the neurons will respond. Its about time to use the gifts of humankind in art, touch, music and color. We have been long overdue to capture the healing techniques of the ancients. History always repeats itself. With your fearless approach, you can change attitudes and shatter old belief systems. There is an entire Universe applauding your efforts!
Thankfully you are receiving the encouragement and inspiration that this wonderful idea deserves. The funding will enable you to truely get out there and HELP stroke victims to get back on track. I will VOTE FOR YOU at the end of the month and encourage all registrants to take the time to put their VOTE out there. This idea could potentially help so many people and their loved ones. Help is near.
Caring for a brother that had a stroke.... the time spent trying in his therapy was hard. For both of us. IT was just difficult to even concentrate in repetitious excercises. However....When we put music on- he perked right up and wanted to try to dance! Even though he was paralyzed on one side. He also would try to sing... when before I couldn't even get him talk. We BOTH had the best time! We would just laugh while working out. Using the $ could also be spent towards therapy CDs and getting the word out for other people. My brother liked oldies. Things that were familiar to him when he was younger - where the memories were well wired in. He often talked about wanting to try alternate therapies....water or horses to try to bring his muscle memory back. He is now passed away, bu…moret I hope you can do something with this. It would be a wonderful gift to all those who are now suffering and hopeless. I would contribute as well! Can we add a therapy in his memory? Makes me want to dance!

This is amazing. Will it work??
best of luck, good sounding concept,
Hard to decide but this is a good cause. I think. A forgotten part of our society that probably needs all the help they can get.
typing rt handed bcause left dsnt wrk. wish yu were already funded. i would try. Thank you for caring about us. will ask my therapist if she understands this. don't give up.
My stroke support group is excited about this idea. A friend sent us here to look. I'm not very knowledgeable about this, but willing to try somethng new as long as it's not invasive. we will follow this closely.
You're getting a lot of votes back to back.. no ones leaving a comment?
Strong idea, however medical initiatives require signifigant ethics and legal approvals. Securing pro-bono professional services would be valuable in taking this vision ito reality.
Oh! this is a wonderful idea! i'm loving reading the comments that have been posted for it also!
Thank you all for you exquisite comments! I am reading every one and taking notes. Keep them coming!! -Topangarose
I do not know about docter stuff but it sounds good to me we have all knnown people with strokes
i do not know much about such things but it sounds good.we all have known somebody who has had a stroke
Ta ta ta- taaaaa!! Supporters to the front line!! Want to see this get funded!!
