I like the open source idea. It's a great way to spread software (so long as the quality is good -- and there is a need for it). For example, the following company has done a great job with the open source model: http://www.openads.org/ (and has raised quite a bit of capital).

However, I would not create a social network. My opinion is that there are too many on the market (do people have enough time for all of them?)

Rather, you might want to setup a blog as well as have a forum discussion section.

We all have ideas & dreams. It's important that we act on those ideas and dreams. One way forward is that we turn our ideas into a tangible thing that others, our friends and potential users can touch and feel.

To do this, we have created a web based tool which will allow anyone, without any programming, to simulate & share his idea with anyone & everyone across the world. www.simulify.com

What will you do if you win $10,000 for this idea?

I have made the software which is in beta, as it is web based so the user will need nothing else but a browser. To make the service popular I want to make a free version available for personal & open source projects. The money will go a long way in spreading the word and starting a community which can share with each other and make simulify a recognized brand.
