OAK (Outrageous Acts of Kindness): free private health insurance for thousands of families.
Idea Description
As branches of the Oak (Outrageous Acts of Kindness) Tree, Churches A & B nominate from their own congregations, say, three qualified families in need of health insurance. They exchange nominee lists. Each Church selects from its neighbor church which family/families it wishes to sponsor and pays their insurance premiums. Premiums are paid from pledges – followed by dollars – by the willing members of the sponsoring church. But now here is the interesting possibility: what if the pledges didn’t actually cost any money at all? What if each pledge were offset with something of equal or greater value?
What will you do if you win $10,000 for this idea?
With the credibility that a $10K award would confer, I would arrange a meeting with the President of the United States and CEO's from the major health insurance companies and suggest that they put our money where their mouths are.
Vote for it now.

What advice do you have to help me grow my idea?
In exchange the goodwill and generosity, each member gets OAK discount coupons for everyday items that he or she would purchase anyway: coupons for items like groceries, prescriptions, oil changes, dry cleaning, restaurant meals, etc. Where do the coupons come from? They come from retail business that are eager, through OAK, to attract customers, who wish to be seen as positive members of the community (and accept any tax benefits that might accrue). Businesses are “giving away” many thousands of dollars worth of coupons everyday as it is. In short, the American capitalistic way of life pays the premiums.
