Cooperative local grassroots journalism to compete with local TV news
Idea Description
I propose a website that allows interested citizens to collaborate to conduct REAL INVESTIGATIVE JOURNALISM. We all know that local television news covers only murders, rapes, and car wrecks with a little weather and sports thrown in. Local issues of substance are only covered by newspapers, if at all. In this case, people could propose a local issue (like investigate city council's bloated expense accounts) and others could decide to join a collaborative group to investigate and create a video report. This would start online but move to television after growing/perfecting.
