Empower people with mental illnesses to triumph over their issues, and to reclaim their lives throught recovery-based, client-centered therapy
Idea Description
I am a licensed clinical social worker, and am appalled at the way some clients are treated by my collegues. In addition to hiring a skilled, experienced clinician, the client needs to be in the driver's seat while working through therapy. The client defines what recovery means to him/her, and it is the client who identifies strengths to build on and goals to achieve whatever deficits she/he identifies; of course with the skilled assistance and guidance of the therapist. Recovery is different from one person to the next, but it is achieveable -with the right therapist.
What will you do if you win $10,000 for this idea?
I have nearly finished my business plan. My location has been chosen, and has the options of virtual offices, part-time offices, and full time offices. If I win the $10K, I would be able to sign a lease in the virtual office stage in order to submit my credentialling applications (credentalling can take 60-120 days. In the mean time, I would step-up the marketing and networking, and begin to see self-pay clients.

Q1: I am having great difficulty finding research that can identify the mean number of referrals therapists reveive a month, both insurance and self pay. I have not been able to locate current, accurate numbers that I can use in my financial projections. Any help would be appreciated.
This is a great idea. I think maybe even creating a software for clients to use to keep track of their day to day lives would also be very helpful and help the social worker. Also, the software could offer different goals for people to select to reach for during a day. I think coming up with small goals to meet is very hard especially when you are not in the right state of mind. It doesn't even really have to be software, it could even be a website where therapist and client could exchange information.
Anything that would better link the therapist to their client and client to therapist outside the office would be a big help to both parties. Still, putting the client in control of their therapy is a real key. I know there are books out there to help people through tough times but I don't know of software or a website that could provide help in most likely a more efficient way.
