Create Community Food Gardens
Create Community Food Gardens
Idea Description
In combination with sites that have unused land (such as churches), develop community food gardens that can be made into plots to be worked and harvested by the community for the community. The food harvested could not only be used by the members, but given to community food banks or kitchens to assist those less fortunate in their area.
What will you do if you win $10,000 for this idea?
Contact churches to gain their support, create flyers to go out to their members and surrounding communities for interest sign up. Arrange for tilling of land. Determine watering needs and availability (possibly purchase water from land owners if not donated to community gardens by the land owners).
Vote for it now.

This is a great idea! First and foremost. This will brief. This idea would help conserve energy and natural resources as well as help with global climate change and poverty. I just watched the Google Q&A pree conference on YouTube and one of the first things they spoke of was farm improvments that would reduce poverty and because one of the highest costs in food is the transportation of the food to the customers. On top of that is all the fuel burned in transporatating it adds to climate change and uses natural resources/energy. Hence the energy conservation and pollution cutback. That fuel costs is another factor in the foods final costs is because of fuel prices. So local community or even regional gardens would help with poverty, save our environment as well as conserve …moreenergy by not burning the fuels. This would also lower the costs of food. --->well then you say well then the farmers lose out, well thats another issue. The whole system needs a change. Why someone breaking their back makes $6 an hour and some **** with no common sense makes million$$, go figure. Change is needed across the board.
