Survival jacket with built-in, solar powered, Emergency Location Transmitter.
Idea Description
A cold-weather jacket with a built-in Emergency Location Transmitter (ELT) featuring solar powered battery cells. Aircraft, rafts and even watches have these built-in, why not your jacket. Thin, flexible photovoltaic cells can be attached to fabric and the small ELT can be powered by batteries placed within the thick lining of the cold-weather jacket. Aircraft ELT's and their batteries currently experience prolonged temperatures of -40 degrees. The batteries can be small as most of the power will be supplied by the solar panel.

Q1: Where to manufacture.
Produce ourselves or outsource.
Ditto on the hand crank
I'd definitely be interested in learning more. Keep up the enthusiasm! Check out my idea when you have a chance, huyuno.com. Hopefully you'll be one of the site's first members! Cheers :)
Good idea, but will work only in sunlight. Change to include body thermal heating or rechargeable battery using small hand crank similar to handcranked flashlight. Also, change from "jacket" to "device that can be added to jacket", for obvious reasons. Don't manufacture, leave that to the experts. Get the financing to initiate, and find the marketers to sell it. In other words, outsource everything possible ! ! !
