build a US travel and relocation website
build a US travel and relocation website
Idea Description
I would expand TheTownPaper.com to include travel and relocation services. I want to combine local information with a "feel" for the community.
TheTownPaper can help people experience some place different.
TheTownPaper can help people when faced with a move.
What will you do if you win $10,000 for this idea?
1. Add a travel blog highlighting different towns and unique travel itineraries. The blog would avoid typical tourism spots and focus on interesting out-of-the-way destinations. For example, the blog might cover Santa Rose, NM; South Fork, CO; or Marquette, MI.
2. Partner with relocation companies to provide relocation guides and additional information for each town.
3. Add travel services specializing in out-of-the-way destinations and unique travel itineraries. These services would include iteneraries, tips for a successful vacation, and bookings.
For example:
Trips to watch the space shuttle launch
Trips to tour a creamery, brewery, sugar mill, and bottling plan

Q1: The primary challenge is finding regional champions to help grow their area.
The website looks as though it as a lot of room for growth. I would advise you to definitely keep moving in the direction you are going. Offering more about a location or destination never hurts.
Offering more information on attractions, travel, accommodations, and recreation would be central to an information site such as this one. Although the newspaper leads are good, maybe trying to get away from that and going to a more direct approach where the web site itself is the information source and doesn't just act as a go between page between the search engine and the newspaper.
This may would require a larger staff to accomplish but if it means growing this site so it could compete with companies like expedia and travelosity, would that be a good goal?
