What advice do you have to help me grow my idea?
Idea Description
A web site that compiles sales into a browse able, search able, updated, and comparable format. Working with local retailers, restaurants, service providers, etc to submit upcoming sales to the company/site. Then we put them on the site. Instead of paying to have their advertisements fall out of the middle of a newspaper, they could submit the same ads to us for free or at a fraction of a cost. Example, you and the wife decide to get a new TV some weekend, simply get on the site and see who has the best sales and prices that weekend.
What will you do if you win $10,000 for this idea?
Assembling other members for a core team to develop a pilot/beta site to present local businesses with to garner their support, as well as present to possible financiers.

I like the idea and it would be incredibly handy (in fact, there's a company offering an app like this for the iPhone now) but the big issue here is logistics.
I think you could promote a service like this if it actually worked, but the database development required would be pretty huge. You could generate a program that drew information from all the local retail chains, but finding the prices and deals from non-chain stores would be next to impossible.
Ultimately, this idea is only going to take off if you have enough companies submitting their info to really ensure someone is finding a deal. Otherwise, you aren't giving them anymore information than they can gather themselves online.
