From the beginning of sports marketing, organizations have always looked for cross marketing ideas. Having everything from t shirts to coffee mugs, each item being customized to fit each team's image. NASCAR has been no different.
My advise would be to keep on the track you are headed. Contacting NASCAR CORP. about licensing and franchising information would be your best bet. However, as you probably know each driver has his own owner, so the approval will most likely have to come on three ends. One from NASCAR, one from the owner, and the other from the driver.

Additionally, after you have established a relationship with NASCAR, they could most likely point you in the right direction as far as merchandisers.

Actionlink is the official merch seller but I'm not exactly sure they are the official supplier. Its possible NASCAR contracts how to several different approved companies. IF this is the case, your choice selection in producers may be limited.
As far as retailers go, Walmart is the official partner for all NASCAR merch so your product will most likely be filtered through them. Thats not a bad thing either--Walmart is the NO.1 retailer in this country.

Idea Description

Food and beverage picnic cooler (think igloo or coleman) shaped as a NASCAR race car. Fans from all over the world will be able to have fun outdoors, at parties and get togethers all while showing support for their favorite driver/team. The idea is patented and has unique features such as hood and trunk opening lids.

What will you do if you win $10,000 for this idea?

Now that I have the patent, the next step is to build a prototype. This is a necessary step in the development of this idea and can be costly.
