Shopforacause.com - Rewards charities when you shop
Shopforacause.com - Rewards charities when you shop
Idea Description
Most of you have heard of "mypoints" or "upromise". Shopforacause.com would feature a way to shop and donate to charity at the same time. I would parter with local businesses, I've actually spoke with a few, who would donate a percentage of the sale to a charity of your choosing. I would love to involve national corporations.
What will you do if you win $10,000 for this idea?
Contact larger national businesses that participate in shopping rewards programs and ask if they would be willing to partner in this endeavor.
Vote for it now.

Q1: The amount you would likely recieve per sale could be small, if you were to purcahse something like groceries or gas, depending on your purchase. Perhaps you could accumulate "rewards" and donate when you have a certain, minimum amount. I'm open to suggestions.
Another model to look at would be www.goodshop.com. Don't get discouraged by the other similar models. Leverage them and build relationships!
Sounds very similiar to ClickToCure (see http://ideablob.com/ideas/2656-Click-to-Cure-Shop-and-save). How do you plan on running the business if 100% of the proceeds go to charity? Sounds like an issue you need to thing about.
Good idea!
Hey this sounds like my idea, www.givewhileyoushop.org, (http://www.ideablob.com/ideas/1252-Donate-to-charity-or-save-for-c#). Maybe we could teamup. I think the fundamental difference between my shop for charity service and other like igive.com is that mine is nonprofit. We give 100% of the proceeds from shopping which means we offer higher donation rates and no registration is required for donation OR coupon codes.
Love the altruistic thinking here but I think that it’s going to be hard to convince an meaningful number of merchants to donate a meaningful amount of money to make this venture worthwhile. And how do you make money, by skimming off the charitable contributions of others? It seems like there is a better way...
good luck on a great idea! take a look at my idea when you have the chance - huyuno.com. Hopefully you can be one of our site's first members! cheers :)
Best of Luck to you!~

See if you can get local newspaper, or coffee news letter, or local publcation to solicit ideas for your project. Maybe they could ask for reader comments.
