What advice do you have to help me grow my idea?
Idea Description
There are hundreds of thousands of physical communities around the world -- subdivisions, condo/townhome developments, assisted living facilities, manufactured/mobile home parks, timeshare and vacation home communites, etc. -- where neighbors no longer know one another and communication is often limited to a hand wave.
I propose providing a very low cost (funded directly by community association fees) password-protected portal that caters specifically to each community. Each community would be provided a template with fully customized modules like:
community documents (Home Owners' By-Laws)
local classifieds
Q&A forum
wiki pages for local business info, etc.
many others
What will you do if you win $10,000 for this idea?
Develop prototype portal site from existing free and commercial products.
Build list of community types, and do targetted market research, and offer no-cost portal access to high-visibility communities in exchange for market exposure.
Find a good reliable robust server hosting company to outsource the tech infrastructure.
