Perhaps you are missing my point. I think this is terrific and I applaud the work they are doing. I also feel that way about many non-profit organizations. At IdeaBlob we are being asked to vote on great business ideas. This my friend is a great cause and seemingly very worthy of getting $10K from IdeaBlob, not a great business idea - because it is not a business. Hopefully, this clarifies my position.

CFL is really well run! The money they raise goes to help so many wonderful people suffering from cancer...and they can assist many more with the money won from this contest. Good luck CFL!

This sounds like a FANTASTIC cause. But, IMHO it is unfair for charities to compete with for-profit enterprises. I'm sure we could all list man, many causes that could put $10K to great use - but is that what IdeaBlob is all about?

I would say this idea has a better return than any other idea I could ever come up with. How do you measure the return of a qulaity of life? I believe that is immeasurable...

Today, November 28th, is Pete's Birthday. He would have been 39 years old if he survived his cancer battle. Let's make him proud! Thanks for all your votes.

After my husband has been diagnosed with stage IV lung cancer and began a brutal radiation and chemo regimen, he was exhausted. We had 3 children ages 5, 3, and 8 months. We were recommended by his chemo nurses for a respite through CFL. We spend 5 wonderful days in Ocean City, NJ in a beautiful apartment. We played with hermit crabs, got henna tattoos and rode bicycles on the boardwalk. Although off season and cool, we spent time on the beach each day. Although the children did not realize at the time how important this time was, now at ages 11, 9, and 6,they watch videos and look at photos of a very cherished and unforgetable time. Crossing the finish line assisted us in building those memories and preserving them on a photodisc. Thank you CFL and Marci!

As a cancer patient I can assure you that this organization is a great benefit to young cancer victims. Giving someone and their family with this disease a break from the rigors of treatement is a godsend.

They send cancer patients and there family away for a week to try and forget about everything we are going through and enjoy the week with their families, we could not ask for anything better. There were times when my brother, Pete, and Marci were in the hospital faced with chemotherapy and tests yet had a notebook drawing up pictures and ideas for Crossing the Finish Line. How wonderful that Marci and many others have carried out Pete and Marci's entrepreneurial and charitable spirit. They simply could have focused on their own lives and worries, yet made a family type organization out of CFL. It would be wonderful if CFL could take those original ideas, conceptualized in the hospital, and take the organization national.

When my wife was was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer, CFL sent my family on a vacation of a lifetime. At the end of the week my wife wrote in the guest book "life isn't measured by the number of breaths you take but by the number of moments that take your breath away - Thanks CFL for all of the beathless memories." Although she is no longer with us, CFL enabled us to have memories that will last a lifetime.

At age 45, my doctors gave me < 10 months to live and said my daughters, 3 and 8, wouldn't remember me. CFL sent our family to Orlando where photos and happy memories became indelible. CFL's unselfish investment in helping families bond, laugh and support each other in the face of devistation is extaordinary. I'm beating the odds, but I'll never forget that the first time my daughters got to smile in this whole tragedy was thanks to CFL. It's their calling.

cfl gave me one more memory to share with my children about their father. we went on our respite six years ago - just before my husband passed - the memories of that time together are as fresh as if we went away yesterday! this organization is a blessing - and will change many lives!

I have known this organization for a number of years, and my late wife and I were among the first travelers to benefit from this program. I can't begin to describe how wonderful to receive a respite from the battle with cancer. Hope you win Marci.

CFL does great work and over 80 cents of every dollar is used to help families who are all dealing with cancer in a loved one. It's an idea I'm fully behind. Pete, the catalyst behind CFL, was a great friend and I miss him very much.

Thank you for everyone's vote. A national program would require a detailed business plan that includes discussion on timeshares, revenue streams and strategic approaches to expansion. Your comments are helpful in the crafting of this plan, so I appreciate your thoughts and comments.

The world would be a better place if CFL could help and touch the lives of more people. This grant would allow that to happen and Pete's vision would be fulfilled to it's fullest. This is a great idea. Have you ever thought about the possibility of doing this as a timeshare business model? Obviously the timeshare purchases would need to come from donations, but it seems worth looking into.

Sorry, but the $10,000 is supposed to help business IDEAS turn into realities. Crossing the Finish Line is allready a well established organization. If you are looking for donations, you should direct people to your website. This website is not here as a means of fundraising, but a place where entrepreneurs can come and tell the world about there ideas, and possibly get the capital they need to turn their dreams into realities. No offence to cancer patients at all, I hope you can understand my opinion.

CFL certainly has a return on investment - to give a cancer patient the incentive to go on and the support of people who care. $ 10,0000 becomes worth millions for all those who have been blessed with excursions from this wonderful group. As a co-chairperson of one of their fundraising events, I am given the incentive to raise more each year for all those who need our assistance. Just meet them--what heroes! WHAT BETTER RETURN ON ANY INVESTMENT!!!!!

I am one of the recipients of this wonderful organization. It was the most amazing news we had ever received when we were told we were going to Florida. Who would have ever thought of a trip in the middle of chemo and radiation treatments. You go get em CFL, you are awesome.

No offense, I feel sorry for cancer patients, but this site is about business ideas. Ideas that with $10,000 will have a return on investment. A financial return, not emotional. I see almost every idea on this site that is winning has no ROI, it's just some idea to help people in need.
