Create "Life's Camp" for struggling youth and young adults ages 16-25 years
Idea Description
Life's Camp is an experiential camp that focuses on education from the inside out. It will promote and create self-esteem, self-discipline, self-responsibility, and the discovery of the individual's life purpose and passion. Through physical challenges, emotional growth experiences, and personal development and family programs, participants will overcome or integrate their greatest fears and challenges so that they may have more perfect health, live their dreams, and fulfill their soul's reason for taking on life. Life's Camp inspires and empowers today's youth to become excellent citizens of tomorrow.

I think this is a wonderful idea. We as adults can help our young adults 16-25 years old deal with their self-esteem and self-discipline issues and also learn to accept responsibility for their own actions. And in doing so I feel that they will become very positive and productive adults who can help make the planet a much better place. I wish you the best in this endeavor. I know you can make this happen!
Great, Cynthia. I support you and your vision. These kids are our future. They need everything we can give them to create a healthy world. I'm with you all the way..Carole
I'm interested in the details of 'how' but this is a very worthwhile concept for our youth. Any positive, healthy concepts that will help our youth develop self-confidence and self-esteem so they believe in "I will" rather than "I can't" has merit. Good luck! And, God Bless you and your vision.
I'm glad you added physical challenges into the mix, which I consider just as important as personal development and family programs in achieving the goals you have set for this program. When my teen-age son came back from his Outward Bound program, he came back a changed person in every respect. Talk about self-discipline and responsibility! He's 44 years old now, and it's still a peak experience in his life. Good luck, Cynthia -- keep dreaming big!
Youth are our future. Challenges to them are many today. Helping them connect to their life's purpose with an experience that includes healthy dimensions is a great idea. May your idea win!
In this world of changing moral values, kids need a constant. They need to first be okay with who and where they are and know that they will have the opportunity to change our world. Great Idea! Let's do it!
I love this idea Cynthia! Our children need good adult role models like you and campls like this to help them understand how to best function in society today and in their world. Kudos to you!
Sounds a LOT like the program Outward Bound. Same concept, same idea. It's a good one, but already done.
Great concept. There's other camps out there that include bits and pieces of what you're proposing, but your sounds like it has is all. Now if you can get insurance programs to include this in their "mental health" programs, I bet it's a lot cheaper and more beneficial than traditional mental health facilitiesfor the insurance companies. Good luck.
Excellent idea - your dream may finally come true, Cynthia. Our kids need all of the help they can get - they are the future!
Very worthwhile project. I suggest that one of the best ways to learn is to teach, so if you can incorporate something in your program that lets one person teach another that would be good. As long as the particpants have good reading skills, and/ or the material being used is appropriate to the reading level, reading plays outloud as a group is really neat. I would also suggest a microphone. I think it might help some shy people and give them confiedence. You might get a short film about the old radio talk shows for a primer on this class. You could use it on bad weather days.
Outstanding Concept!!! So many lost souls could be found and directed at their choosing to new possibilities. How exciting.
Amazing Idea. Our children are our legacy....we must think of them first. This is the most brilliant idea I have seen in a very long time.....
This is a phenominal idea....just what we need. I am so happy to see that someone is out there lobbying for our most important and most 'under-heard' population...our legacy is in our children...let's support them through a program as brilliant as this.
Cynthia, The idea is exciting. I look forward to hearing more details about the aspects of the program and how the participants would be selected. If anyone can make it happen, you can! Many blessings on this project. Judith Nourse
I have known Cynthia for 4 years and I can say, she has her heart and soul in this! Yes there may be other programs that are similar, but I asure you... this is different, as Wisehart is the foundation!
Cynthia....good work and great idea....With your credentials in your professional life and your acomplishments and vision that you've gained from walking down the many paths of your "real" life, you've have what it takes to make this program thrive....yu go girl.....carl
Absolutely fantastic! I would hope that the camp would be of no cost to the children who are poor. We need more ideas like this! Namaste, Daniel
Great idea. Constructive and supportive of children and society in general.
I would be glad to work on this project will you. It is a wonderful Ideal that will help the world be better and people repect one another, heal and be successful in mind body and spirit. Thanks for your great idea. LouiseRitchie
This idea already exists on the Western half of the United States and has been operating very successfully. I think there is plenty of room for expansion and the current model has some flaws that can be learned from.
Great idea, as long as you display clearly to prospective participents what your basic beliefs are and what practitionors may share with them during the camp and afterwords. People are suspicious of organized groups, so you need to be very clear about anything in your motivation, funding, & staffing that is important to you. By being compleatly open you will help avoid legal problems later!
I know a couple of kids who've gone through similar programs with great success. Good luck to you! If you would, please check out and advise me in my idea. Cheers!!
I would like to incorporate this idea w/ my desire to work w/ abused/homeless animals. I think merging the two would help to awaken substantial emotions and awareness in children who likely have gone through the same thing these abused and homelell animals have. Let me know if you want to develop such an idea. maryloumaria@yahoo.com
yah, you are doing a nice job. Your idea are really fantastic. Like's camp will help poor and struggling teen.
I think this a good job, but have you considered the drug aspect of it? Many of these kids are going to be coming into programs much like you have designed with an addiction. How do you plan on countering this? You said it yourself in the advice..."Success rate of only 4%." Detox is very very expensive, I am interested after studying drug rehab centers what your plans are for these very expensive costs? Keep it up thought it's a great idea.
