www.junkdrawernomore.com - A website where you can design and order a custom junk drawer organizer fabricated from landfill "rescued" acrylic.
Idea Description
Everyone has a junkdrawer. Every junkdrawer is different.
Here's the idea, a website that you can design and order your own custom drawer organizer insert...for any drawer!
Also, 80% - 90% of the insert is fabricated from brand new cutoffs from other acrylic items that normally would be sent to the landfill! Since the average drawer is 2" or 3" tall, there is an unlimited supply of material that can be used that would otherwise be sent to the landfill.
What will you do if you win $10,000 for this idea?
I launched this site in October of 06' with $300...
1. Web Design. Specifically, a more thorough order page that would give a price quote based upon the size of the insert, how many compartments it contains, along with a shipping calculator for more accurate pricing. Currently, we win some and we lose some because of the one price for all inserts.
2. Equipment. There are some tools that would be helpful in streamlining fabrication and shipping procedures.
Vote for it now.

What advice do you have to help me grow my idea?
I like your ideas. I'll have to give it some more R&D time and let you know if it works.
Ridgidity? meaning strength and quality? I was thinking somewhere along the lines of a file drawer where the clips can be placed anywhere. if you can vision it; create something like tinker toys(don't laugh) where you can use standard sizes to create your base and clips that would align the compartments - sort of...the compartments would arnage in size and can be arranged in any type of order to meet your requirments. SOmething along those lines but a little brainstorming would probably generate more ideas toachieve both versatility and strength - this configuration can also be transferred to drawer organizing in an office desk as well. Your thougths?
That is a good idea. Actually, we've tried some different mehods for accomplishing just that. We end up with a product that has very little ridgidity. I am certainly open to pursueing a better way.
What ifyou went a step further and created either adjustable seperators or made it modular that it can be configured to any type of configuration?
