Create a website about the rewards of regular giving
Create a website about the rewards of regular giving
Idea Description
3 years ago, my family and I committed to allocating 1% of our take home pay as donation money. I realize 1% isn't much, but even just giving this small amount has had a profound impact on how we think about our money. I'd like to create a website and/or community to tell our story, give others a place to tell theirs and provide helpful resources about how people can incorporate giving into their lives, regardless of their circumstances.
What will you do if you win $10,000 for this idea?
Complete my business plan and start looking for a web design/development agency to help flush out my online vision. I have money of my own set aside for this project, and another $10K would be enough to take some first steps.
Vote for it now.

Q1: Name my website! What URL would you use for this site?

howdy, i might be able to help. we are building www.SimpleCharity.org to allow people to setup their own small charity websites. Swing by and check it out.
Great Idea. 1% is not small, and it will be really big if more and more people join the force. I had a similar idea it's social networking for non-profits. It's like we create a group and raise funds in monthly recurring way and donate to favorite charity at the end of the month.
great idea - you might also be interested in kiva.org...check it out! also, im looking for some advice for my idea: huyuno - a social networking job site. any help would be greatly appreciated! cheers!
greetings, such an idea must have come from the HOLY SPIRIT. thank you for thinking of this! i think incorporating all 3 of your ideas would work. make it information specific: what could be done, where to find projects to give to, list different types of giving, examples: saving animals, the wilderness, ill children, etc. also:suggestions for how to find or start a community in their hometown, include your site as an online community. you could start a blog as well and get those who come to the site to share what they are doing thru the blog. message boards and chat rooms are very popular and provide help, encouragement, a place to begin for those who don;t know where or how to start. #2: the giving place. keep it simple to be easily remembered and easily related to the purpose of the site…more. that will bring in more people. GOD is so great! Praise HIM always.
Great Idea! I would suggest adding a link to charitynavigator.org it is a great place for people who want to see what a charity does with their money, who gets paid the most - how much that is, how strong the charity is, etc. You can also search by category if you know where you want your money to go but not to sure of who. Thanks for the idea - hope this helps.
This is an excellent idea! As a web designer/developer I would recommend that you look into the blog platform for your project. In particular Wordpress ( a free open source blog software ) for a number of reasons. If you would like more advise or the reasons I would recommend Wordpress please email me: kerrinrussell@gmail.com.
What a great idea. Making giving a family habit is a great way for children to learn this from the time they are young. They will learn that others need help, and that even 1 person can make a difference. If they develop the habit at a young age, they are more likely to continue it as an adult.
Excellent and intelligent idea to help people give to worthy causes on a regular basis. This way we could ignore wthout guilt the many requests for money that come by "snail mail" constantly. A list of worthy legitimate charities on this site would be very helpful.
What a great idea! Imagine how different the world would be if we all contribute 1% of our pay towards great causes. Would you advertise different charities on your site?
