Light-up Pacifier. Lights up when it falls out of a child...
Light-up Pacifier. Lights up when it falls out of a child's mouth.
Idea Description
When searching at night for a crying infants pacifier it is very difficult to find. The Light-up pacifier would make finding it much easier. A simple sensor inside the pacifier would turn on the light when the pacifier falls out of the infants mouth.

What advice do you have to help me grow my idea?
Where can we buy some of these ?
Great idea! A click or beep sound with the light (pulsating) would help in finding this under the blankets or clothes. I really think that sound activation is ideal = if the pasifier is out of the mouth and the baby cries then the light/sound starts. This display might entertain the baby enough to help ter go back to sleep.
a good idea for babies; what about adults? what happens when their pacifier (money) falls (loses) out of their mouth (value). please help us win so we can reevaluate the value of money. vote on the ideas of 'inione', especially the one for promoting the eventual end of petro use; the others are important to yet we need capital to make the ball roll faster. i'll invest in your idea when we win...would you do the same? inione, is, you & i working together as one, for earth. www_inione4earth_com. thanks! pace the peace~! inione.
I still remember the good ol' days when we kept a small flashlight in the room.
@worldhugger, thanks for your thoughtful comments. however you completely misunderstand what this is. there is no teaching involved that is why it is called a "pacifier"... it pacifies, it does not teach... maybe you are thinking of a pacifist? please hug the world for me my arms are not big enough.
I don't know if I want to teach children to **** on LED's or things that glow. Someone would swallow something and you would get sued.
@Curtis, i know what you're saying. thanks for the additional market... i hadn't thought of marketing to large-man-droolers!
Wow! Buddy this is the joint (know what im saying)! I'm a grown man ... but i still have this problem with drooling when i sleep and often i find that a pacifier helps with my problem when i'm asleep (know what i'm saying). But my wife becomes easily tempted when the pacifier comes out in the middle of the night and i end up scrummaging around the bed trying to look for it (know what i'm saying)! But with this new joint, when it lights up i'll be able to find it straight away! This joint is off the chain (know what i'm saying)!!
Tina come get some get some HAM!
Not a pro at what works for kids but I do know this idea is better then the others.
@17forever, thanks for your comments. the USA has very strict guidelines for making pacifiers. my prototype meets all of these safety guidelines. in addition the electronics involved in producing this are so minimal that you could put them in your mouth and there would be no ill effects.
good idea but worry about the safety issue like others- good idea with room for improvement
Keep it kool kerrin.
wow, your smart
cool idea!
that is such a great idea! you've definitely got my vote!
It doesn't need to be heat activated, it could detect a light force (or lack of) from the babies mouth.
heat activated would mean that it would only light up in the baby's mouth...that makes very little sense. = )
Cool idea!
I would absolutely buy this product. I have searched high and low some nights and usually it was right in front of me. This would make my life much easier.
lauriez, you're hired!
iguanas and babies that won't take pacifiers are both neglected here....a pacifier that lights up and slowly releases Cayro Syrup and Lunesta. is that illegal? ;) got my vote.
Love the idea, def. think that it should be heat or noise activated. I would buy the product.
I like this idea but I think instead of it being activated by falling out of the child's mouth it should light up from crying (noise sensor), since falling out might not mean the child actually wants or need the pacifier and the light might wake them up. This might work better as an attachement to fit any type of pacifier and then you'd have even more market (not just the Nuk or Mam shape).
You should look into these rubber ducks that light up whenever they're placed in water. The water basically completes the circuit from two metal points on the bottom of the duck and turns the light on. You would need the exactly opposite effect though. Completing a circuit in your infants mouth is not advised. On a more serious note and in response to the plutonium joke, you could probably add a phosphorescent material to the handle.
What a lovefest! You better win my man, given all the support you got. I want an autographed version if you win. For real, love the initiative!
What a brilliant idea!
This would have been lifesavers since we have twins!! No more crawling on the floor in the middle of the night! GREAT idea!
yes its a great idea and see you have a great future whether you win or not- great idea
Kerrin...haha, thanks for the support. I'm guessing all the supporters of the other contenders are saying "yeah, your idea about * is so much better than the idea about *" Anyways, good luck. I'm voting you up.
This will help us grandparents who need lights on everything. This is a good one! Grandma duck
Please be so kind and return the vote, good luck! Stevo Perisic
Maybe instead of a battery you should use something naturally luminant like uranium or plutonium... : )~ mr c
Just a thought...and someone might have already suggested this...but you'll want to keep in mind the different TYPES of pacifiers out there: Avent, Mam, and all the various other ones. I know many babies find their preferred shape/feel, so I'd hope this light-up thing could be used for any type.
can you make it heat activated? sometimes the baby still has it in their mouth but is not really sucking very hard on it, not sure if the lack of pressure would make it start lighting up and wake them up?
Great idea--we'd buy it!
they do sell glow-in-the-dark pacis, but only the handle lights up; you can find it in the dark, but it's not bright enough to find the baby's mouth, too. if the nipple glowed in the dark, and not just the handle, it would be easier to put back in baby's mouth! that material may be safer than batteries, too....
i would buy it
even better if it beeps as well!
I would definitely buy! When does it go on sale? My 15 month old son would love it too. He has had plenty of bright lights in his eyes in the middle of the night!
Like it! What about a 'LoJack' for pacifiers? : )
great idea, i go pacifier hunting all the time. except you stole my idea
Finding that pacifier can be a big deal when you are bleary eyed and the baby is upset. Should be a winner!
Great idea...we would buy them in a heartbeat.
A great idea! Kids and parents will welcome this. Even Grandparents!
We looked for pacifiers hundreds of times while our 6 kids were growing up. This is brilliant.
