Chor Bazaar and Indian Culture
Chor Bazaar and Art
Idea Description
Chor Bazaar
We are a Brooklyn, NY based Indie-Indian Fusion t-shirt company that is trying to promote a more authentic understanding of what it means to be South Asian and simultaneously create a new contemporary South Asian concept of design. This idea is to be shared with everyone, just like music.
We maintain a kitsch free design process and make and produce all the shirts ourselves. We do not use generic companies like Cafepress. Our t-shirts are from companies like Alternative Apparel and American Apparel. We feel that anyone can "rock" what we produce. It's for the masses.

FOR OUR THOUGHTS http://chorbazaarworkshop.blogspot.com/
What will you do if you win $10,000 for this idea?
We would like to use a Guerilla style marketing that will bring the idea of South Asian to the masses and allow people to realize that there is more to South Asian than the media projects. Taking on an Urban style approach is important for us to reach a wide diversified audience.
Our new shirts are here based on some of the feedback that we got from ideablob. Thanks for everything so far. You can check them out at our site http://www.cbaz.com and give us a shout if you hate them or like them.
Vote for it now.

Q1: Marketing and exposure. How can we get the word out?
How can we prove to everyone, that there is more than Curry, Taj Mahal, the Simpson's Apu and the OM symbol to South Asian culture?
Very cool idea, even for a white boy like myself. I own two t-shirts and would definitely buy more.
We don't have a distributer, but always searching. You can email us at info@cbaz.com. Thanks!
I like the style of these products...do you have any distributors lined up?
This is a great idea. I've seen the t-shirts and the quality and prints are great. I hope you win!
Keep up the good work. Left a comment on the wrong side. Good luck
I'd definitely be interested in learning more. Keep up the enthusiasm! Check out my idea when you have a chance, huyuno.com. Hopefully you'll be one of the site's first members! Cheers :)
I have 2 T-Shirts from your collection and i just love them! They are a great mix of good quality and very cool designs. One does not find such designs anywhere and what i like most about them is that the t-shirts are hand finished..giving each t-shirt a personal touch.
These T's are authentically cool . The designs are great and the concept is very original. I'm gonna get me one, or two infact!
Love the quality of the tees and particulary the stamp design...You rock...star!
I think this is a fascinating idea with huge potential. Globalization/modernization has tended to create only certain mass produced images of culture which people are starting to get tired of. Your creation of images which fuse authentic/insider south asian culture with New York design are super cool and I hope you will have the opportunity to market them to a large audience!
I love the ambassdor T-shirt and the Hero one! Way to go U-oh!
I have purchased two of these shirts and really like the designs. The quality is good and doesn't wash out or wear thin. Having spent some time working in the manufacturing sector in India I would like to know more about the design process and how it integrates with Indian culture.
I like the Chalo India shirt and the India Stamp shirt. They carry off India in a subtle manner. Good Luck!
Promoting culture is important to keep it vibrant and alive. Celebrating past accomplishments while musing future directions.
This is a great idea. I am happy to see that there is someone out there that is producing shirts with taste and without exploiting religious icons. South Asians are a lot more than curry.
Hey, I like your t-shirts and your blog is great. I'm not sure you will win but I can appreciate what you are doing. I really appreciate that you are not using cafepress and you have created your own high quality t-shirts. Looks great.
