Translation service for the people powered by the people
Translation service for the people powered by the people
Idea Description
We all have the idea that the Internet has no boundaries. No boundaries and yet, there still is one huge barrier, the language. To overcome this problem, we usually check BabelFish or Google Translate. And although it's enough to get a general meaning, we know they aren't reliable. We could do more by taking advantage of collaborative tools like wikis. Such a service will section a text, each of us will translate two phrases. With the size of the community, within no time, a text will be translated in several languages with a higher accuracy than automatic services.
What will you do if you win $10,000 for this idea?
The service is already online (http://traduwiki.org). What we need is to employ someone at least part-time to create more tools to foster coordination between translators, build and manage the community sense around the service.

I think communication is so important - translation services help people feel more connected and fosters undertsanding. Great idea!
