I want to make a web site that will help you raise money to start your business. Angel investors have to hear about your idea before they'll invest so I am exploring several means to advertise our ideas to draw investors. I am also investigating avenues of government help including SBIR, SCORE,SBA

04.06.09 | 06:35 PMWould you have an idea copyright guarnatee or will this be in the vein of solicitation whereas the idea posted cannot be protected for the fact that the idea could exist in a similar form somewhere else in the world?

I have been keeping my serious ideas from this site for this reason!
I need an Angel Investor to get involved with but must be based on a relationship of trust - then flesh out the details of the rest of my brains recesses.

1) the vague general description containing no proprietary information. Which is posted much like on the ideablob
2) the technical disclosure filled with all the information and investor needs to make a decision. This would only be accessed by snail mail with a hard copy signed disclosure agreement.
This is my current vision only by cannot say what it will look like after the lawyers get done with it.

I have emailed Ideablob.com regarding this 3rd party "takeover" possibility and as you Logixlab, still do not feel comfortable with putting my "creations" out here. I am excited to hear that WJACKIE envisions a channel for inexperienced entrepreneurs [and that does NOT mean unintelligent ;-)] to perhaps find their way through the mazes involved in creating a business, enhancing a business and/or creative inventions of whatever sort. BTW, this is my first correspondence on this site :-)

Prior to approaching any potential source of financing it would be very important to provide the type of information the lenders are looking for. This may involve the development of templates for the business plans.

I've been wanting to build some kind of open-source business plan platform. I can definitely think of contacts that can fund top-ranking business ideas. 12.26.08 | 04:29 PMSo you want ideablob to give you ten thousand dollars to become their competition? Doesn't make much business sense, but I see how you are trying to differentiate. You are looking to become a more formal, business plan and invention submission website (at least you should be looking to do so by placing a similar idea on this site). If I were you I would look to seriously differentiate yourself. The angle that you could add would be connections between inventor and capital, but I am not exactly sure what connections you have right now that would make that idea a possibility. Good luck!

12.17.08 | 01:48 PMI think that it is a great idea, except for the fact that you are essentially taking the ideablob idea and turning it into a place where you get those people with ideas tied down with a contract with you where you attempt to bring their idea to market and make a profit from it in the process. I understand that you are not trying to steal anyone's ideas, I just hope that the fees that you charge will be only from the revenue that comes from after the product has been introduced to the market. Because getting innocent people to give your money to "promote" their idea, can become pretty scam like and you don't want to be a part of something like that.
But as far as getting some seed money goes, here is a government grant company that you can look at to see if you can receive some sort of federal funding:

by ernieb0812.17.08 | 01:16 PMIt honestly would really depend. There are so many in this Nation right now who have money but are scared out of their mind to invest. I'm not sure how much you know on carrot capital funds so here is some information that might prove helpful in the months ahead.!
Here is one site I found http://www.carrotcapital.com/ that deals mostly with medical investing. SO if you are thinking of basing your companies/web site's operations off medical industry and ideas then carrot capitalizing might be for you.
As far as the other groups go. It will probably take a great deal of convincing on the front that the site could attract credible people with creditable ideas that could quickly be injected into the market.

12.18.08 | 09:48 AMFirst you would need an all inclusive intuitive website for your inventors. They are going to have to be willing to place their ideas on your website with the chance that they can be stolen and patented by other users on the site, bringing in millions to the fraudulent inventor.
Think of it this way. How do you want your users to place ideas on the website, and how are you going to make money off of them. Are they going to pay you to review their ideas? Are users going to review the ideas and get paid, therefore cutting your payroll?
These are all different ideas that need to be assessed. I think ideablob does a fine job of placing ideas on the website, and the users do a relatively good job of critiquing the ideas.

SItting here, it doesn't sound like there is a clear communication of the service that your venture will provide and how you are going to provide that service. I recommend sitting and writing your business plan before you proceed wtih anything else. What you need to do is look at describing your idea thoroughly in about thirty seconds and then writing that down on paper. It sounds like you are on the right track and that you believe in your idea, but now you need to get others believing in it too. Make sure that you can communicate just how these people are paid and where this money comes from. If it comes from investors, be sure that you have a plan to make them their money back and more. It may be helpful, therefore, to get in touch with a lobbyist who is willing to help make this a reality. You will need to find some way to raise funds to pay the lobbyist's fees, but in the meantime, here's a few good ways to get in touch with lobbyists:

Managing and handling large portions of ideas and web traffic.If you are needing some type of service or additional technology to handle this, here are a few sites that might be able to help you along.

To do is I propose fund your idea.com a web site that guides instructs in powers and funds new venture creation. I also propose rewriting the blue sky laws so new ideas can advertise stock for sale and poor people can invest small amounts of money in risky new ventures.

I'm sorry but there is no web site yet(that is what the idea blob money would be used for) I am very much like you a frustrated inventor so far I had little success in raising money. From what I know about business creation there are several things that make a successful company. A great idea is typically not one of them. A good solid management team is typically what will make or break a company, investors invest in the blind undying vision of an entrepreneur, the idea helps but is not essential. The idea of being able to help them is great and the right idea, but a good management team could figure everything out on their own. My two cents.

Thank you so much for your vote. To answer your question, Yes, our business is profitable.. There is just to much of a demand for the product to stay ahead with capitol. I started the business on my own in 2001 and invested in a US Patent and then turnd my DBA into an Incoperation. Our main financial stress is paying in advance for leasing space such as The National Finals, US finals and Junior High and High School finals, and buying product in bulk. The business travels to a limited amount of shows just to show new products. We sponcer youth and different events. We are a major player in many adult and youth orginaizations. This money will not only help our business but inturn help the community. When you compare our track record we have trippled in business within the last 2 yr…mores. This idea was not only a blessing to me but many others. Thank you again for your comment.

I love this idea not only does it encourage entrepreneurs but it could be a great way to attract additional capital for inventors. Whatever qualifications that will have to be met in order to obtain subsidization by the government could be geared to a high enough level that private investors would feel comfortable investing in the business as well.

you clearly have never tried for thease grants. If you are an acidemic you may write a white paper to the SBIR granting agency then thay ask everybody to compeet to invent your idea if you inter the compition you have a 10% chanch of being funded, but what if you'r not a doctor of enginering? does that mean your ideas are no good? you are who this project is fore
Aloha! The Government already has grants available for all sorts of projects why not start at that point. Many of the grants do not have to be repaid. Google Fed. Grants.

Great idea here Frank--there are many frustrated startups out there that can use a break including me. I believe your company would stimulate the economy but the pot should be much bigger than 10mil. If the government is to be involved, it should be upwards 100mil or so. Also, the fewer hoops someone has to jump through the better--it's ridiculous what you have to do to get a grant or any kind of investment capital. Many ideas out there dieing because they have to sacrifice their 1st born

FYI--I was a finalist in the April 2008 ideablob contest for "End school bullying, violence" with over 5500 hits -- I had a massive nationwide network of over 200,000 blobbers and many voters contacted me and indicated they were simply unable to vote due to ideablob technical issues -- user name recognized, not recognized, didn't match... blah.. blah... blah. you name it the issues just kept preventing our voters from having their votes recorded -- in the end, I think of 5500 voters only 120 votes were actually recorded. see link: http://ideablob.com/ideas/1408-End-school-bullying-violence- So, I've got my fingers crossed for you. Excellent idea. Regulated funding for the most promising and beneficial economic plan would be great for the economy and the labor force in general. And when the enterprise is successful they can give back to the fund? There are so many directions that my thoughts could travel on this subject, accountability etc. etc. You know the routine. my prob throughout the entire process from idea was i had to pay for everything with taxed dollars costing me double to get from idea to market yrs and yrs only after approved and 1 sold do you start to get write offs of expenses (millions) that needs to change.
