ibernate; let your (i)phone switch off your PC and monitors when you're not around.
Idea Description
Save on power consumption as individual and definitely as company by making sure users PC's and screen are in standby mode or hibernating when the user is not around.
Use bluetooth to pair a PC with a users cell phone. Install a tiny program on PC and mobile and whenever a user gets out of reach of his PC, it will switch to hibernation mode. As soon as the user comes back in reach, the PC (and screens) turn on again.
PC's without a bluetooth radio can utilize a cheap USB bluetooth dongle. (provided by employer or as give-away)

Hi, I see there some potential in this idea, as example it is common in hotels that your light, heading and air condition is switched off, when you leave and take your key card with you. That is a similar use case. I think you would get much better votes if you expand this idea to the entire electricity mangement segment for houses. The problem is that usually you need some home automation installation for your house to support that. If you find a cheap, efficent and scalable solution for that you can contribute to reduce unnecessary power consumption ... and save the world ;-)
