Alternative to funding war in Iraq, etc.
Instead of spending $1T to fund wars in Irag, Afghanistan etc..why doesn't government spend it to subsidize production of more fuel efficient cars.
Q1: Ask yourself. America doesn't have the fossil fuel deposits that is required to keep it going. What happens when the supplier suddenly refuses to sell? China and Russia are quickly becoming alternative markets with their tremendous growth. What's the Plan B? The fact is, we're not ready. Every effort should be done to try to be self sufficient in energy production. In my humble opinion, the first step in this process is to lower the bar by encouraging more energy conservation programs. While we deplete the world's fossil fuel deposits, God blessed us with an abundance of wind, water, wind and wavelengths (basically, Solar but I wanna stick with the "w" concept). All we need to do is think.
Idea Description
The idea is to lessen our dependence on fossil fuel. If government would instead spend these funds to fast track research and development of alternative energy sources as well as subsidize production of more fuel efficient cars then we hit several birds with one stone. Here are some immediate benefits: 1. We keep about 2M jobs in the auto sector (including suppliers, service providers of auto manufacturers) 2. By producing more fuel efficient cars that are within reach to most people, they would be encouraged to sell their big engined vehicles and trade it in for more environmentally friendly modes of transport. 3. Lesser emissions means good news for climate change 4. Less dependence on oil
