Solve world's energy problem by setting nuclear plants in uninhabited regions of the planet.
Idea Description
Nuclear fusion is a clean and powerful means to produce energy, but has the drawback of being very destructive in case of an accident (remember Chernobyl). I'd say a dialogue should be held between energy corporations and the international community to set nuclear plants in areas of the planet that are far enough from people (e.g. the North pole), which would make the consequences of an accident much milder.
What will you do if you win $10,000 for this idea?
To make a feasibility study with a team of experts to propose this possibility.
Vote for it now.

Q1: Opposition from the oil lobby. Political difficulties to use international lands (Antarctica, North Pole...).

The answer isn't in how we supply fuel, but in how we use it. Locating a nuclear facility in an area where there are few people doesn't mitigate the impact on critical ecosystems that are located in these regions. Who's going to run the plant and how will the energy production be transmitted efficiently?
