UIIS's purpose is to discourage obsolescence, waste and pollution, to create an international database system that logically indexes parts that can be interchanged for multiple products and or systems, to encourage the reuse, recycling and and interchangeability, repair and rebuilding of parts in different products and or systems, to create longer useful life of an item or part, to create new jobs in the recycling, repair and service business sectors by creating a secondary market for products, to encourage innovation and to create new products by the ability to use uniform standardized parts.
