Help Creative Woman showcase their work!
It is hard when you are a creative woman to get people to carry your work. I want to open a small shop where I can sell my books and carry other artists who are trying to get recognized. Someplace they could have readings, demonstrations, meet and greets. Just a place where they are given a chance.

An unknown artist seems to spend all their time trying to get some place to showcase their work. When all they really want is to spend time being creative.
I have been writing since my early teens. My dream was always to have my work published. But no one seems to want to work with someone who is an unknown. I finally published two books with a print on demand publisher. Now I need to try to get people to give my books a chance.
I raised my two daughters by myself over the last 20 years. I've had on and off health problems which has put me behind in bills. But my dream is to open a shop where I can sell my work and help other woman who are fighting to show their creative side to the world.
What will you do if you win $10,000 for this idea?
Find a small building that I can either rent or put a deposit on that can be turned into a small retail shop. Then begin to set it up with a small section where readings and/or demonstrations can be held. And a shop area where creative work can be sold. Then get the word out that I'm looking for local creative woman who want to showcase their work.

Unfortunately, it is difficult to unknown people to showcase their work. I really don't know what to suggest - maybe have an online marketplace where you can present samples of your work? Or attend book fairs, and the like, or offer to read excerpts at different gatherings, or book clubs? To be honest, I don't know how many people are in the same boat, and even if they are, how will you reach out to them? If they are internet-savvy, that would be the best way to reach them. Otherwise, it may have to be some sort of a gathering or event organized in different localities meant to attract such people. Maybe city fairs could have a 'showcase your work' areas?
