Education\Work History Verification System
An industry standard for education and work history verification that may be used realtime to verify pieces of an electronic resume or used by social and professional networking sites. Essentially a SEAL would be placed next to each Education or Work History denoting it has been verified.

Idea Description
Recruiting companies, HR departments and hiring managers spend significant time performing verification checks outside of background screens. There are third party services that provide this verification, but nothing that is accepted as a standard nor accessible via web service calls. The system may appeal to a professional social network like LinkedIN. Perhaps for their paid accounts, allow users to view a profile and instantly get a verification of their education and work history. This may also be applied at the paid level for users when adding their education or work history as it will stamp their profile with a "Verified" status, therefore separating them from the pack.
What will you do if you win $10,000 for this idea?
Put together a prototype and pitch idea to a verification company (backgroundonline.com, hireright.com) ,industry specific applications that contain HR modules (SAP, Oracle, Microsoft) and social networks (LinkedIN, Facebook, MySpace).

While a verification system to protect the integrity of the electronic job application process is necessary, I do not believe that the idea is practical. Employers looking to hire candidates to fill spots would have a significant use of this system, but they would not take the time themselves to verify their separated employees' information. For corporations that have thousands of employees, verifying past employees work experiences would cost the corporation huge sums of money. Also, corporations avoid these sorts of systems since they do not want to face lawsuits resulting from negative comments or battles over the past employee's work. If you can find a way to overcome these issues, then you have my support!
