KIBA KIBA BOOKS "Illustrated by Children"
Please visit: www.kibakiba.org
The concept is simple. I write stories. Children illustrate them. Kiba Kiba Books will publish the books. Illustrator profits from the children's artwork are donated to local & global non-profits. Thanks4-VOTING-4Us
Idea Description
WHO ARE MY PARTNERS?
Currently Art in All of Us (sponsored by UNICEF) and a multi-cultural mural project in NY. I also just won an arts grant to partner with a NY library and I'm in the beginning stages to partner with Dream Village, the Oct. IB winner. I am also in pre-production with 3 others.
WHAT IS THE MISSION OF KIBA KIBA BOOKS?
To give children a platform and leading role in the process of creating a beautiful children's book.
WHAT DOES KIBA KIBA MEAN?
Kiba Kiba means: PEACE
WHAT ARE THE STORIES ABOUT?
The stories inspire children to believe in themselves. They expand the imagination and promote self-reliance, courage, unity, freedom and individual self-expression.
What will you do if you win $10,000 for this idea?
I will continue on the same path that I am on to create and publish my next book. I will lead children to illustrate one of my stories or partner with a children's art non-profit. After the illustrations are complete, I will publish the book: digitize the artwork, create the graphics, build the layout, work with the printers. The $10,000 will pay for the printing costs for 2 more books/1000 copies ($5,311), graphic designer fee ($800), artist/writer fee ($1,790), art materials and supplies ($150) and distribution and marketing costs ($540). The remaining $ will be used to create the next book. THANKS AGAIN FOR VOTING FOR US! :)
Vote for it now.

Q1: What is the best way to sustain the company? Online sales only? Local sales only? Or go through a wholesaler, distributor, etc and try to sell through bookstores and amazon?
I wanted to update everyone on a previous comment I made: Originally I had hoped to have 3 books completed by Dec 2008. But due to 'circumstances beyond my control' I am now tapering the launch to release one book each season. So, my first book is still coming out in Dec 08, the next in Spring 09 and the next in Summer 09. :)
Thanks for your comment and vote. I checked out your profile. I'm impressed. I thinks the two of us have the same mission to help children use their creativity.

Thanks, Suneet! I just sent you an email. I love the idea of a partnership and look forward to talking about the possibilities. :)
Hi CosmicDahl, I'd really like to speak to you about a partnership if possible. Maybe putting one of your books on our platform? If you're interested in talking about it, do let me know. Again, I love your idea. suneet@socialsymmetry.com Thanks and good luck. Suneet
I just found out that Kiba Kiba Books was highlighted in the gaia.com Team Gaia Blog. Here is their comment: "Also, I want to tell you about a few of the amazing artists here. They're out in the world serving with inspiration and beauty. I am so happy I found CosmicDahl aka. Jessica. (Her name is my name too ;) She’s been part of this community for a long time and just started a publishing company called Kiba Kiba in August. She uses children’s artwork for all of the illustration and donates all of those illustration proceeds to non-profit organizations through her foundation. Really! She works with children to create the art for her books, giving them the chance to take part and make something meaningful. So check her out and offer some morale support. She’s out there living …moreher passion, making vibrant, positive books with the good of the world in mind." http://team.gaia.com/blog/2008/10/gaia_community_news#comments
CosmicDahl, I did see your project and I love the approach you're taking. I think we've both decided to focus on getting children engaged and involved. Thanks for taking the time to check out our link and I wish you luck as well. The beauty of this space is that there is tremendous room and huge market for groups approaching it altruistically. Most of the books you see now have an agenda or a specific slant. I think there are more than enough stories to tell that would be more universally accepted--if some people don't have access to water, there's really no two ways about it. Good luck. I'll be keeping tabs on how you're doing. I'd also love to chat with you more direclty. I'm sure we can learn a lot from each other: suneet@socialsymmetry.com .
Very soon! I have the first THREE books launching in December. They will be available to buy on my website. :)
When can I buy one?
