Open Sourcing Our "Rights of Participation"

Our cherished concept of a "right to privacy" is evolving -- perhaps evolving away. But is it really leaving? Or is it returning to its roots? Privacy was not included in our core rights but instead evolved from commerical interests. "Rights of Participation" are evolving in their place.

Idea Description

Our founding parents did not include what we call our rights of privacy in the Constitution, nor directly in any other founding documents. Though presumed to underlie the rights we were given, what we know cherish as so fundamental really came about specifically to protect commercial interests. Now, in light of both the virtual world of connectivity and the growing potentialities of socially responsible business thinking and investment, shouldn't we at least be open and upfront about the evolution of what we now have: some degree of collective "rights of participation." My goal would be to develop an open discussion and input process for this concept, and to link it to profitable justice.

What will you do if you win $10,000 for this idea?

I'd use the money to establish an incredibly visible portal for lively and active debate and discussion on these new rights, what they mean, how they can and cannot be used and, how, when done correctly, they value and support the concept of creatively responsible capitalism. While this discuss can occur on many levels, it would best be done in a way that allows for buying access and utilizing connectivity resources. I would likewise use the project to explore new ways of funding the nonprofit sector, building on what is being discussed about the mixing of socially responsible investments as well.
