Idea Description
Aggregate emergency/disaster information from every media source including tv, radio, blogs, twitter, and more. Published on one page per disaster and then separated into neighborhoods where pertinent, this website could put the info into the hands of the people who need it most.
I have a team already working on the first phase of a project which would aggregate both major media sources (tv, radio, etc) as well as citizen journalists (via blogs, twitter, etc) and republish the information about disasters and emergencies into SMS, email, web, and other mediums.
The point of this site is to act as a central hub for getting information quickly about your area in times of disaster.
What will you do if you win $10,000 for this idea?
* Pay for marketing to get the word out about this website
* Pay the volunteers who are working on the project
It's going to happen one way or another. I would just like to win this competition so we could thank the volunteers who are spending their time in dedication to the public. This will become a worldwide useful tool. Please thank the people who are making it happen by voting it up to the top.

Q1: What would you do to get this website into the hands of the public?

You like it. You’re confused by it. You want to know more. Ask questions and post comments here.
Post a commentOften did kids got sick and it is really expensive. Trips to the emergency room or sudden doctor's office visits are expensive, and when you have children, you end up going more often. Among the most common afflictions that children suffer, and then their parents along with them, is an incredibly common condition – an ear infection. A way to treat the severe ones is a simple and very common outpatient procedure called a myringotomy. If you want to read more about it, go to the payday loans blog here.
So we didn't win the $10k this time around... but thank you, everyone, for voting. If nothing else, you solidified in my mind that it needs to exist. We're working on releasing it very soon.... http://crisiswire.com Thank you!
I wish I can vote again for you!
I want to make a plea for people to vote for this! My sister in law was given an order to evacuate from her home last year in Southern California because of a wild fire. I could not get a hold of her. Living alone, in poor health, she can not move very well without assistance. Living in Northern California 600 miles away, I wasn't sure if she got out! I wasn't sure where the fire was. I was completely in the dark, until I found a blog that had the information I needed. It told me information that the newspaper and news media couldn't! Today information is the hands of the public via websites and blogs. The news media rarely give the details that you need in a disaster. My Sister in law is ok , her home was saved, but I was in the dark for 2 solid days! If there was a disast…moreer website that consolidated the information, I would have immediately known the status of that street at the very least. If the system is working the way I envision, know by her name that she was safe in a shelter. Disasters will happen again and again, I plead for you, to please vote for this idea! This site is needed desperately!
GSroute.Com can be a sponsor. Please look at our website model. We can easily adapt the mapping feature and immediately utilize it for you disaster website I am a 30 year data expert, I can help you with this project. There is no reason why this idea can be quickly utilized with a small team of experts. Let's do what the government can't do! Quickly inform people of at a street level!! You have my vote and support on this!
Good luck! If there's any specific way I can help, please let me know. I actually led the design of an award-winning site for a consulting company in the disaster management/emergency response, space. I also spent some time at FEMA. My contact information is on my profile.
Saving lives and getting important information into the hands of those that need it is way more important than some of the other ideas on Idea Blob. Vote this one up!
Living in a hurricane-prone area, the need for a central source of emergency information is sorely needed. I'd say you are spot-on with this idea.
N8, A brilliant use of data and feed integration. The local focus and region specific nature of your vision is tremendous. There is so much important "ground truth" that mass media never touches on in disasters such as Hurricane Ike and other natural disasters. This site is much needed for everyone's use. Way to go!!!
Absolutely! I'd love to see them involved in one way or another.
great idea for emergencies & disasters. i could see FEMA or the red cross being involved somehow.
