  Sounds like a really interesting idea. The market for scented candles as well as other aroma products has really grow over the past years. Companies like yankee candle and scented accents have really done well in this market especially with big box retailers like the ones you are talking about, however there is still more opportunity out there to dive into this market.
  My suggestion would to first be to survey for own product, decide on a general pricing index for it and who your competition. After knowing this you can better decide how to go after this kind of market and who out there may be getting in the way

  I think that you need to examine your competition. Build-a-Bear has captured the stuffed animal market in the decade, so it will be very important to determine whether there is a market share available to you if you do indeed proceed with this venture. The scented idea is a good gimmick or niche, but you may need other ways to differentiate yourself from the custom bear market. I also think you should look into registering your product so that a large company like Build-a-Bear cannot go and steal your idea without you profiting. This would increase your competitive advantage and perhaps give you a chance in a competitive market.

  I think the biggest thing mothers look for in children's products these days is whether the products offer educational experiences to their children. You should try to come up with a way that children can learn from the scents of the teddy bears.

  I think with what is already out on the market that your idea is very feasible and could be done. however, you will have to start paying attention to production costs as well as other variables that could really put you in the red if your not careful
  The important thing will be to start researching retailer agreements and understand the language behind what goes into to them and how much you would want to make off the product as well as some different ways that they could help market your product more efficiently.

  I think my main concern is the same as what elDuse said. the longevity of the scent may be hard to maintain especially with the amount of love and use a teddy bear maybe forced to handle. it is a novel idea that I have never heard of someone doing in any form of children toy. One thing i would suggest is aside from the scented bear you could produce hypoallergenic teddy bears. Many kids may have be allergic to dust and other particles that can collect on a teddy bear. you could use this as a way to pull in the parents whose children have severe allergies or even children with asthma.   My first concern was how you could keep the bear scented for the life of the bear. People would be pretty upset if the bear lost its scent after a few months. You might consider scent "refills" that would be sold separately. The bear would always be scented, the scent could be changed, and it would provided added revenue for you.

  Sure it's feasible! But it could make someone who has allergies sneeze or maybe even worse! I think this is why it hasn't been done before!
