What advice do you have to help me grow my idea?
Idea Description
Digital hand-held credit card reader so groups eating together in restaurants could pay using different credit cards. This is important because we continue to become a cashless society. Currently the servers in restaurants are paying the price when they shouldn't have to. This would make the customer experience better, would make the server more productive, and the restaurant more profitable.
What will you do if you win $10,000 for this idea?
Research and contact OEMs or other digital equipment manufacturers (like Micro) to explore their interest in the idea.

Put some tags on here so that it has a better chance of being circulated on the site. I think it's a great idea. I will defer to odicabs about whether it's already been done, but I spent the weekend eating out with friends and I wish I had your portable machine.
Fantastic Idea but this is already being used worldwide. Some card readers work on wi-fi, others bluetooth and still others use GSM signals to transmit information. GSM readers also come with a "sign screen" and a small printer that prints out your transaction. It works in places with GSM cellular service using the GPRS technology. Keep on thinking more of the good stuff. All the best!
Check out an Apple Store -- all the representatives there have portable credit card readers and it's much more productive.

This idea has merit. I'd recommend looking at the payment card systems that are out there currently and how yours would be filling a need. Splitting up a bill for parties can be time consuming. Take a look at this idea and how you could convince restaurant owners they need this device. If they need it they'll buy it. Cheers.
