Work Study Program for Online College Students
There is no work study program option for online college students. Education costs are expensive and most time federal aid and student loans are not enough to cover costs. I would like to implement a work study program for online college students.
Q1: Of the many online college students, how many of them would be interested in a work study program if it became available?
Idea Description
I would like to establish a network of employers both public and private and get the online universities to agree to work with them to make work study an alternative to financing an online college education. When applying for admission and financial aid an online student would be able to apply for work study as a means to help finance their education or for credits. The type of job that the student get would be work related to their course of study online, and telecommute jobs. I would like to look into the possibility of a tax break for these employers and the long term possibility of of them receiving a tax break for hiring online students.
What will you do if you win $10,000 for this idea?
The money would be used to set up a website for employers and students to register for jobs online. I would like to submit a proposal to the online universities for this project and have a contract drawn up. I would also set up an 800 # for parties interested in this service.

This is an interesting idea. I would petition the federal government for inclusion. One area may be that there is very little supply of work to meet online demand.
