Idea Description
On September 4, 2008, my wife, Donna 57 was diagnosed with severe Alzheimer's. It is really emotionally draining for me. I have been with her for 30 years and she is so young looking and beautiful (she looks like she is in her early 40's). According to her Neurologist, her life expectancy is from 5 to 7 years.
I started a journal yesterday as an outlet. Living with a wife that has Alzheimer's, the journal has passages on how she is doing along with events and my inner feelings. I would publish the journal entries and publicly post them daily on a blog. This "reality blog" will serve to educate people on the affects Alzheimer's has on the patient and associated loved ones.
What will you do if you win $10,000 for this idea?
The 10K would be used to supplement her home care assistance. I started the journal and can be viewed at http://donnas-journal.blogspot.com/

Q1: Isn't true that in the back of your mind, you think that terrible things happen only to other people?
Families need this - now - with all of the boomeers reaching this area of their lives - let me know where to send the contributions to help fund this
I'm sorry to hear about your wife's diagnosis. I hope you find the strength to help both of you. The online journal looks like a good place to start. I enjoy blogspot as a service.
