Offer free websites and branding to nonprofits who can't afford to spend money on marketing
Idea Description
I get approached daily by small nonprofits who don't have the money to hire a design firm to create a quality brand and marketing strategy. I would take this money and offer my services as a grant to several small nonprofits and help them legitimize their business with a logo, marketing materials and a website.
What will you do if you win $10,000 for this idea?
Do some research through the California Community Foundation and Guidestar.org on a few nonprofits who are just starting up, but who have GREAT ideas. I'd look for the ones that have proven success even on limited funds.

You should see if an open-source software system like Wordpress could make the connection between non-profits and designers in a way where the designer gets promoted by the software company. The perfect model for making this happen is http://virb.com If you scroll down and look on the right side of the main page, you'll see their promotion for non-profits. You have my vote if you can do it in a similar fashion at a high enough level where designers get promotion for their hard pro bono work.

I never heard of so many people on Ideablob that what free handouts! If you have an non-profit organization and you need money, have a car wash, start a raffle, sell cookies, whatever! Gimee, gimee, gimme! Maybe you're cause may have to be reevaluated.! Now what really is your business plan? Is this just a scheme to promote your graphic design business? An organization's success is not based on it's logo! The success is based on the organization itself, it members, and what the organization accomplishes!
