New Flavors of Toothpaste to Induce Children to Brush
The flavors of toothpaste seem to be mostly Mint or Cinnamon and the combination of the two. Why not flavors like Bubble Gum, Tangy Orange, Passion Fruit, Strawberry, Lemon, Lemon-Lime, Cola, Chocolate or Root Beer?
Kids would brush more often and longer!

Kids not only would brush more often and longer, but I strongly believe if this toothpaste is marketed correctly it would "fly off of the shelves"!
What will you do if you win $10,000 for this idea?
I really do not have the funds to market this product or to develop it. I would donate the 10K to Hurricane victims, because they will need it a lot more than myself! This is an old idea of mine and is being tested on Ideablob. Hopefully, this idea will get some media attention. To make this idea work, it will need large amounts venture capital to compete with the big brands. Maybe one of the big companies will purchase the idea. I am open to your ideas on this. If there is any "venture capitalists" that what a piece of this, I am willing to speak with you.

Q1: I approached the Jelly Belly company with this idea, and they ignored it. Is this idea without merit?
I really like this idea and something immediately crossed my mind when I read it. A company called FlavorX provides flavorings for medicines so people can take them more comfortably. A great article on the company is here. http://www.inc.com/magazine/20030601/25521.html
This might give you some insight on the process they followed and difficulties they faced.
Some obstacles I see for your idea are:
1. Competition from major players in the toothpaste industry, Colgate-Palmolive and Crest. What do you think will stand your idea apart from a product they could provide? What will prevent them from entering this market if you prove successful?
2. Retail Space - Shelf space is a hot commodity in stores, particularly grocery stores. Often, retailers charge slotting fees for optimal shelve space, so it is difficult for startups to compete against entrenched companies.
