Idea Description

Street Dollars is a program to create and deliver assistance to the homeless and needy by providing "Street Dollars" or Vouchers to those in need. The dollars and vouchers would be handed out by motorists and those approached by the homeless. The vouchers and dollars would be accepted by participating merchants for food, temporary shelter, emergency items etc. The incentives for the merchants would be tax breaks, publicity, city incentives, awards or other benefits. The dollars or vouchers would be purchased by consumers at participating vendors or by mail or email at a deep discount from true value. The incentive is to help the homeless and needy. Scam artists could not get cash this way.

What will you do if you win $10,000 for this idea?

Start by polling merchants on reception of this idea. Determine what incentives can be offered merchants for participating in the program. Create a good business plan and get high profile players in the community interested as well. Create publicity about the program, radio, newspapers interviews. Offer incentive for copy and print companies to produce dollars and vouchers as an example "Denver Dollars". Locate and rent inexpensive one room store front for headquarters and operations. Leverage volunteers and community service for the intial work and participation drives. Implement and Promote, Promote, Promote. If successful develop a cookie cutter for other communities and cities.
