rehab one home at a time
I have come across a bank selling 36 homes built in 2005 in Highland Park MI, I my ideal would be to turn these homes into low income housing but there is a catch, the participants would be forced to attend classes.
Q1: Can anyone give me any ideals of how to make this better i would love positive feed back
Idea Description
The ideal I have involves the community business and families what I want to do is purchase an rehab these properties an allocate them for low income housing but here is the catch the first year the families would be able to stay free meaning grant money would be obtained to cover their taxes an insurance an property management along with the classes and training they will be forced to take this program is no different from section 8 or welfare but the major difference is we will make sure they lean things that are really needed credit counseling the ability to take classes in a field that is needed here in Detroit.
What will you do if you win $10,000 for this idea?
If I win then I can began to put the players in place to make this a reality making contacts with companies investors churches I think it would be a large step and then possible enable more properties get folks back in the work force rebuild our communities.

I think that you are on the right track when considering to use local businesses and churches. You might also want to check with the city government for help as well, since the welfare housing programs area all controlled by the government.
Unless of course you want to start a private welfare program. In that case you will most definitely need businesses that will want to fill their philanthropy requirements an churches who want to fill their serving the community/poor desires.
I would also consider putting job prep and placement service in your program. Because giving people free living, food stamps and classes on how to manage their money only goes so far. You have to have a job to make it work. If you aren't careful, then you could have people that are going to be in your program that will continue to rely on the government or charity organizations to take care of them, instead of taking responsibility and paying their own bills.
