Miles per gallon savings
People neglect the gas saving potential of properly inflated tires. This is due to expensive and inconvenient air pumps. Legislators should mandate all gas stations to provide free air. This would save a lot of gas. People would be more likely to keep their tires properly inflated.
Idea Description
A lot of gas (MPG) are lost due to under inflated tires. However, it used to be that air was free, easy to use, and always available at every gas station. Over the years the machine that simply set your psi by turning a dial faded away. These accurate machines were replaced with cumbersome boxes that charge .75 cents to use and I for one, could never fill and measure all tires and it winds up costing $1.50. This minor profit is at the expense of us all!

Q1: Have you ever neglected getting air in your tires because of the inaccuracy and cost of air pumps?
Yes, it's a over inflation is a great concern, especially if tires are getting older. A tire can blow out, if worn and over inflated. Blow outs can be dangerous for self and others. Therefore, if I can't be sure I'd rather get lower gas mileage with under inflated tires.
