Recycling Human Waste
Human waste is being treated and released into the waterways. Human waste should be converted to Methane gas for electricity and providing natural gas for heating and appliances.
Idea Description
Human waste, treated and untreated is being released into the waterways at a great cost to the environment and wasting a major renewable resource of energy
Human waste provides a natural biologic decomposition yielding Methane gas. The gas should be captured and stored. This renewable resource is one of many answers to the energy problem we are now facing. This "Methane Capturing" has been successful in landfills and should be expanded to water treatment plants. Natural gas (Methane) provides energy for electricity, heating, appliances, and powering vehicles. The solid by-product will be fertilizer and useful organic biodegradable chemicals.
What will you do if you win $10,000 for this idea?
Use the 10k to start a non-profit organization to promote "energy solution awareness" and persuade legislators to act upon these energy solutions that are environmentally sound and are economical to implement. The organization will also act as a consortium attracting the scientific community. The common goal is to implement alternate energy solutions and to ecologically improve existing energy resources.
Vote for it now.

Q1: What do you think is the reason why this has not already been implemented, since this is an obvious energy source?
sometimes, something just need to be let as it is, don't forget, human waste also act as fertilizer for plants, food sources for fishes, worm, fly etc. capture all the waste, turn it into energy for human use..creating the unbalance factor into our ecosystem doesn't sound like a very good idea..not to mention the smell of your human waste methane gas...
I am glad that there is research being done on important energy source. Thank you, very much for the link. Maybe this research can get more attention, so it can have more funding.
