Girl champions needed! Help me produce audio book about 1!
In 2006 I self-published my first sci-fi novel, "Alysa of the Fields" which has a heroine and is geared to teens and up. I'd record it with actors and sound effects - it would be like a movie without the visual. I'll give copies of CDs to libraries, schools, hospitals, visually impaired orgs., etc.
Q1: What are some methods I can use to contact organizations to distribute sets of the audio book? I would be searching outside my area as well as in my own.
Idea Description
In 2006 I published my sci-fi novel, "Alysa of the Fields", which is geared to teens and up. Many people told me they'd buy the book if it were on CDs, as they had long commutes, didn't have time to sit and read. Since then I've dreamed of recording it with actors and sound effects on CDs - it will be like a movie without the visual. I'll give copies to libraries, schools, hospitals, nursing homes, visually impaired. I've begun reformatting the book as a radioplay script. I have a website for the Book One at http://www.tinafieldhowe.com/Alysa. I'm in the process of publishing the second book in the series, which will be out in November 2008. I'm planning to turn this into an audio book also.
What will you do if you win $10,000 for this idea?
Budget for renting recording space, paying actors, producing CDs
Complete formatting of the script
Audition voice talent according to character needs - about 20 actors needed
Set up time at the local radio station for recording
Schedule recordings with actors and direct them (I have acting & directing experience)
Select music and sound effects (or create sound effects as needed)
Edit and mix the sound (I have experience in this area)
Create a master
Duplicate the CDs - probably professionally
Design the packaging (I have experience in this area)
Advertise
ID & distribute to organizations listed above
Make available for retail sale
Prepare Book Two for release on CD!

Tina Howe is a superb author and illustrator. Her book encourages children to imagine and dream about things other than life on this planet. I recommend Tina Field Howe's Book, Alysa of the Fields to become an audio book. Lisa V.
