Berryit.com/ An online boycott site with teeth!
Affect Change! Berryit.com is a site that will allow groups to stage online boycotts. The groups can use the Berryit Firefox entension to tag or "Berry" (as in bury) websites that the groups have chosen to boycott. Search results will then show a favicon beside the boycotted sites to alert users.
Q1: Does anyone see any unique way to monetize the site? I am interested in going beyond advertising.
Idea Description
Boycotts have been used to affect economic and social change throughout history. Groups. seeking reform or change, have used their power and voice to persuade others to not buy a company's products or visit their establishment, thereby putting economic stress on the company.
Berryit.com will carry this method to the internet and allow groups of people to boycott the websites of their intended target and those associated with the boycott.
Berryit.com members will be allowed to download a simple firefox extension, join a boycott or create one, recruit other members, and Berry (as in bury) boycotted websites. The boycotted sites will be marked with a favicon in the search results.
What will you do if you win $10,000 for this idea?
The money will be used to incorporate the company, fill for trademarks, copyrights, and to fund our bandwidth requirements. This should bring the site to a beta level and qualify it for additional funding.
