Protective Impact-Resistant Materials: A Stronger Future
Armor plating is typically heavy, bulky, and expensive. Boroshield is researching new methods to produce the most advanced armor systems possible.
Our Solution: The Colbert Cell

Idea Description
We are a team of college students committed to developing new methods to produce defensive armors using electrochemical reaction processes. Our goal is to create protective impact-resistant boron materials to help save lives. Our process has the following benefits over conventional processes:
> No solid toxic wastes
> No hazardous gaseous pollutants
> Materials do not degrade into harmful compounds
> Tremendous reduction in energy-use
> Utilizes inexpensive chemicals
These benefits stem from the central aspect of the technology: rather than synthesizing materials by traditionally wasteful means, the technology uses a high-yield electrolytic reduction method.
What will you do if you win $10,000 for this idea?
Facilities, equipment, and materials are needed for continued research and development. Our technology is currently unprotected; part of the funds will be used to apply for a patent. Once a working model has been created, our team will seek additional grants through competitions held by scientific research organizations such as the National Science Foundation (NSF) and the National Aeronautics and Space Administrations (NASA). We hope to implement this technology on a global scale to impact the world we live in through positive progressive change.
In addition, we have set up a K-12 Outreach program known as Science Inquisitors to engage youth in the mystery and mayhem of science.

Q1: We are in the process of increasing involvement in our Science Inquisitors program. We mainly engage in chemistry demonstrations because such demonstrations are spectacularly appealing to the visual and auditory senses. However, would you agree that chemistry is the most difficult science subject to learn at an early age? Should we continue to implement mostly chemistry demonstrations?

I like your idea; I want to improve your odds of getting funding I will vote for your idea if you will vote for mine. My idea is for a web site that raises money for inventors and entrepreneurs called New Idea website Check out my idea blob submission and visit New Idea Website and see what I can do for you. http://www.ideablob.com/ideas/4060-NEW-IDEA-WEBSITE The need for jobs is one of the biggest problems that a democratic government faces because creating jobs is an unwanted byproduct of business and industry. The reason I say its unwanted is the more jobs a business creates the more its expenses are and the smaller it’s bottom-line. If business and industry have their way they would run their companies with no jobs at all no management or labor. To deal with this dilemma I pr…moreopose a federal venture capital carrot fund that literally pays entrepreneurs to create jobs. The investment bank would be expected invest in seed level startup projects like yours and to lose money at a specified dollar per jobs ratio for example during hard times that figure may be as high as $20,000 per job and good times the figure may be as low as five dollars per job, by controlling this ratio the fed could roughly control unemployment. The bank will be expected to fund novel products and services and stay away from things like restaurants that will simply draw jobs from other restaurants or moving factories from one part of the country to another. If you like this idea vote for it and send the congressional letter from the website. Sincerely Frank Scruggs
After reviewing all of the projects in this contest, I think you guys have the most creative, and technologically sound and realistic idea of all!!! There is no doubt that the future of this country will definitely benefit from your genius one day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Good Luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I hope you are following the principles of Paul Anastas the father of Green Chemistry. If you do not know who he is learn more here about Green Chemistry: http://www.chem.yale.edu/faculty/anastas.html http://www.yale.edu/anastasgroup/ http://www.greenchemistry.yale.edu/ Good luck, Erin
Glad to see this make it to the finals. It is a great idea and much needed in today's world. You earned my vote. Good luck!
Armor tanking is for nubs, but I voted for you anyways. =p
This sounds like a great idea and I appreciate that people are looking to help the environment. I would want to know more about the technology and how the high-yield electrolytic reduction method works. I am also a little concerned about how long this protective product will last.
With the whole go green movement I think this idea has potential to go far. Even in this poor economy you see people buying gas efficient vehicles to help the enviornment even when they are substantially more expensive.
Great job guys!
Good luck Max..
do you realise, when you are succesfully create this green protective product and start selling them in millions of unit, the raw material that you derived from nature will run out and create another new problem for human being?? I used to have idea to produce carbon black ( used in many industries) from trees, burn down trees take the leftover and crush them into powder...but then this thought came into my mind "world without tress...???"
dag nab it....
I can't believe they censored that word haha. I guess I'll rephrase it: BRYAN IS HIGHLY ATTRACTIVE TO THE OPPOSITE ****. there. let's see them censor that. ha!
Ha ha ha ha. I didn't even know they censored stuff on this website. And for a word like that...
BRYAN IS ****
Voted. Energized Adaptive Nano Plating is still superior though.
This is a wonderful idea because it supports our troops, helps the environment, and allows kids to attain their maximum potential. Bravo!
Hope all goes well~ We are all cheering for you guys at Kids club!!!
good luck! :)
good luck!
This sounds like an awesome idea, light, strong, low enviornmental impact armor, so why hasn't it already been used? Is there some kind of hitch? Just wondering, but sounds awesome and I sympathize with your mission statement. Good Luck!
Hey! I read the description, and it sounds like a really great idea! Good luck guys, I voted for you!
Stephen Colbarmor huh? Was he that big of an influence? Your idea sounds great, it hits all the points that we as a society want to hear in this day and age.
good luck!
LOVE your idea!! Hope it comes true! ^_^
i like it too. good luck
This sounds like a great idea!
